Introduction
At Worksop College our curriculum is flexible enough to give your child, whatever their ability, a diverse and broad education.
However, providing a rich curriculum of choice for your child is only one piece of the jigsaw – having the right teaching staff, small class sizes and specialist facilities ensures that learning is an effective, fun and rewarding experience.
In such a busy school our well-qualified teaching staff knows that academic pursuits must be a priority and this is instilled into pupils from their very first days with us. Also instilled by staff is a personal enthusiasm for their subject which helps to inspire learning for its own sake, not just for the gaining of qualifications.
'There is much evidence of teaching which fosters application, interest, creativity and self-direction' (Inspection Report 2009, para 2.24)
Effective learning is further enhanced by activities beyond the classroom such as visits to universities for specialist lectures, participation in the Rolls Royce National Science competition, a Royal Armouries activity day or Geography and Biology field trips.
We are committed to providing your child with the best possible classroom facilities. To this end, the College has an ongoing investment programme to ensure classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, computers, internet connection and up-to-date software. The evidence of our ongoing investment is equally impressive in terms of specialist teaching facilities, such as the state-of-the-art Modern Languages laboratory, two computer centres, eight Science laboratories and a new Food and Nutrition department.
Detailed information on the departments can be found in the Academic Departments section.
