Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
The Combined Cadet Force is predominantly made up of participants from Years 10 and 11 and is led by the significant number of Sixth Formers who choose to continue their association with CCF. For a school of Worksop’s size the contingent is large and, unlike many equivalent schools, comprises of all three sections, Army, Royal Air Force and Navy.
In keeping with many aspects of life at Worksop College, there is an emphasis on serving others, although the physical skills, such as first aid and navigation, and the self discipline, self-reliance and teamwork acquired en route are also invaluable lessons for life.
Each year the CCF holds training camps, where the skills learnt at school can be put to the test and developed further via expeditions and more formal training or team building exercises. Much fun is also had participating in other adventurous activities such as orientation and kayaking, for example. It is not surprising then that for many the preparation and grounding of CCF becomes a stepping stone for leisure or more serious pursuits in later life.
