Expeditions
Every year, countless Worksop students experience an expedition or trip of some form. Be it a CCF expedition to Cornwall, a Classics trip to Southern Italy, a pilgrimage to Spain or a Geography outing to Shropshire, the benefits of experiencing life outside the local area always prove invaluable.
We want your son or daughter to perceive no boundaries in thinking or opportunities and trips and expeditions form a vital role in pushing said boundaries. One good example of this has been the setting up of a partnership with Kipsigak High School in the Highlands of Kenya. This programme includes teacher and student exchange, joint projects including an expedition, but most importantly it aims to give our pupils a perspective of life in a country very different from their own.
With this in mind, the College also regularly organises expeditions via World Challenge, an organisation specialising in educational expeditions in the developing world. In 2008, this saw thirty eight students and seven adult leaders embark on a four week group expedition in Northern Chile, where amongst other projects the teams worked at a centre providing care for young disabled children, in a volunteer run crèche in a deprived inner city school and built dry stone walks and signposted walkways in a national Park in the foothills of the Andes.
