Music
Music has a real resonance at Worksop College, maybe it has something to do with our lofty 120-seater Recital Room; here you will find superb acoustics – the perfect place to enjoy the first class grand piano that is housed there. Our music school, Mountgarret, also offers pupils a dozen practice rooms, specially equipped classrooms and a technology room, all of this supported by twenty specialist teachers offering expert tuition.
In addition to individual tuition in an instrument of his or her choice, your child will be eligible to become a member of one or more of a wide range of groups, providing opportunities for both performance and being a member of a team:
- College Orchestra
- Chapel Choir
- Jazz Band
- Brass Group
- Schola Cantorum
- Chamber ensembles
The Chapel Choir plays an integral role in College life, and as well as regular foreign tours – which have seen them perform in recent years in St. Mark’s Venice, St. Peter’s Rome, Notre Dame and Ghent Cathedral – they regularly sing Evensong in local Cathedrals such as York, Southwell or Lincoln.
Music at Worksop has a rich and interesting heritage. Those interested in a detailed account of the development of Music from its beginnings to the present day can download further information written by the Director of Music, Mr. Timothy Uglow, below.
