Unbeaten Double Hundred for Old Worksopian Cricketer
OW Joe Root underlined his England potential this week making an unbeaten double hundred for Yorkshire in their County Championship match v Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl. With Yorkshire in some difficulty, Root took his overnight 46 to a mammoth 222 not out off just 270 balls allowing Yorkshire to declare their first innings and give the Tykes an outside chance of forcing a win in this rain affected game. Joe has already made a hundred this season against the touring West Indies and this double century does the 21 year olds’ chances of a senior call up no harm as he looks to build on his good work in recent months with Yorkshire and the England Lions.
