An Eye-Opening Work Experience for Worksop College Pupils
Immersing themselves in the arduous rehabilitation process, two Year 11 Worksop College pupils’ spent their week’s work experience at Headley Court, the main military rehabilitation centre in Epsom, Surrey.
Purchased after World War Two, with money from the Royal Air Force Pilots and Crews Fund, Headley Court is now the Defence Services Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC), which aims to return all those service personnel injured or seriously ill to full fitness.
Alex Rogers and Huw Ab-Jones, both Year 11 pupils observed and took part in the rehabilitation process including some arduous gym circuits with the amputees and spent two days in the Complex Trauma Section.
For any young person wishing to pursue a future in any medicine-related career, this was a wonderful opportunity and both the boys took every opportunity to assist with the hard work undertaken by the staff and service personnel.
