Health Care Centre
The Health Care Centre is run by two qualified nurses, Bronia Pennycook RGN, RSCN and Andrea Whitworth RGN, who have, between them, a large and varied amount of nursing experience.
The pupils have access to the Health Care Centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but there are 4 “official” surgery sessions each day with the nurses. The school is linked with Newgate Street Medical Centre in Worksop and a school Doctor holds a surgery at the College twice a week. It is a requirement of both the school and the Health Authority that all boarding pupils are registered with the school Doctors.
In addition to treating injuries and illnesses, the school nurses can update vaccinations and organise opticians’ and dental appointments for the boarding pupils and chaperoned visits to hospital can be arranged. The staff also have links with both local and national Counselling Services.
The Health Care Centre staff are an invaluable resource within the pastoral care of all pupils and their open door policy encourages pupils to feel able to confide or let off steam regarding any matters which concern them.
